It was Bilclough Cup week in the North Northumberland League and there were wins for Craster, Amble, Springhill, North Sunderland and Embleton.
North Sunderland went on a goal spree netting 17 times against Ashington West End.
CRASTER RVRS 4
HIGHFIELDS UTD 2
Highfields started well and took a two goal lead thanks to strikes from Paul Wood and Martin Shucksmith.
Just before half time Craster pulled a goal back from the penalty spot and they made the most of their chances during the second half to add three more before the final whistle.
Goalscorers for Craaster were Harry Woolhouse and Richard Stanwix with two goals apiece .
SHILBOTTLE CW 1
EMBLETON WR 2
For the second time in successive weeks Shilbottle were eliminated from a cup competition by the odd goal in extra-time.
In a game of little skill but plenty effort, it was Embleton who just came out on top to progress to the next round. It was the Colliers who opened the scoring after 25 minutes when Kenny Collins forced the ball home from close range.
They led by the single goal at the interval but Embleton came much more into the game following the restart and put the Colliers defence under considerable pressure as the half progressed.
Just when it appeared that the home side was going to hold on, the visitors drew level five minutes from time with a fine strike from Ryan Taylor.
The game went into extra time and was ultimately decided by a goal from Dan Humphries during the first period, and Embleton then held on for the remainder of the match to record a deserved victory.
AMBLE ST CUTHBERT 6
LOWICK UTD 2
A single goal separated the teams at half time but a five goal spree after half time saw the home team progress.
Jack Young and Stephen Drummond scored for Highfields during the second half while Amble’s total was made up of Liam Ramsay (3), Reece Ramsay (2) and a single strike from Tim Hamilton.
NORTH SUNDERLAND 17
ASHINGTON WEST END 0
In the opening 20 minutes the visitors held their own but once the first goal was conceded the result was never in any doubt.
Five goals up at half time the visitors , who never gave up, collapsed and concede 12 more before the final whistle.
Chris Coe led the way with a six goal haul, Robert Scott and Ryan Thompson netted four apiece with single strikes from Sam Aldred, Jack Convery and Ross Stanton making up the final total .
A youthful Rothbury side gave their all during this match but the experienced home side made it a comfortable victory at the final whistle.
