Newcastle’s Streete aiming for comeback with Glasgow Rangers

COMEBACK ... Remie Streete.
COMEBACK ... Remie Streete.

REMIE Streete’s hoping to be back on the pitch next month – in time for Rangers’ Scottish Championship run-in.

The defender has played just 44 minutes of football since heading to Ibrox in early February.

Streete, one of five Newcastle United players to join Rangers on loan for the second half of the season, suffered an injury on his debut

The 20-year-old – who has been sidelined with a hamstring problem – has been working intensively with the club’s physios in recent weeks, and he hopes to be available within a fortnight.

Of the Newcastle loanees, only Streete, from South Shields, and forward Haris Vuckic have played for Rangers.

Manager Stuart McCall doesn’t expect Gael Bigirimana and Shane Ferguson to play for the club this season, but Kevin Mbabu is back in full training after recovering from injury.

Rangers, third in the Scottish Championship, are destined for a place in the end-of-season play-offs.
