Newbiggin make it nine wins in a row in NNL

In the North Northumberland League Newbiggin maintained their unbeaten start to the league season, and there were also wins for Wooler, North Sunderland, Alnmouth and Amble St Cuthbert.

In a fast and furious first half, Chris Chisholm gave the visitors an early lead, while Stephen Shendon scored a 20th minute equaliser.

A Rhys Hogg penalty restored the visitors’ advantage, with Richard Stanwix adding a third on 35 minutes.

After 40 minutes, Sean Angus scored for Alnmouth and just before half-time, Ashley Lalley equalised .

The second half saw Alnmouth take the points as Ashley Lalley, a Liam Jefferson penalty on 70 minutes and a Glenn Robson goal on 90 minutes gave them the win.

Amble Masons 0

A spirited performance from the visitors was not enough to stop Newbiggin completing their ninth win of the season.

Goals from Dan Hudson and Kai Downey gave them a half-time lead while second half strikes by Darren Burn, Kris Willis and Lee Messenger saw them complete the win.

Bedlington were unable to build on the previous week’s victory as the visitors netted four times without reply during the first half.

During the second half, they extended the lead to six before Jack Walker netted a consolation goal for Bedlington.

Goalscorers for Amble were two each from Karl Taylor and Liam Ramsay, with single strikes from Owen Baston and Mathew Spiers.

Lowick United 1

North Sunderland 3

Lowick played well during this match but it was the visitors who took the points at the final whistle.

A Danny Lillico goal gave North Sunderland a half-time lead with Ryan Thompson extending the lead in the second half . Craig Young pulled a goal back for Lowick but a defensive mix-up gave the visitors a third goal to secure the win.

Overall, Wooler were the stronger side throughout this match but in a fairly even first half only a single goal separated the sides .

In the second half, it was Wooler who made the most of their chances to net five more times to complete the win. Goalscorers for the Glendale side were Connor Cowans (3), Thomas Allan, Luke Strangeways, plus an own-goal.
