Morpeth Sunday League round-up (March 25)


PEGSWOOD Ex-Services suffered a further setback in their defence of the title as they lost 2-1 at Stobswood Welfare, yesterday.

Wyn Fremlin scored for the Ex, but Patrick Douglas and Stefan Tweddle netted for Welfare to extend their opponents’ winless run to four games.

Red Row Brick Club lifted themselves to third place with a 2-1 win over Stakeford Half Moon. Craig Keen scored twice for the Brick and Chris Black replied for the Half Moon.

Bomarsund Social Club and Bedlington Barrington Arms shared a point apiece as they drew 2-2. Ross Muter bagged a brace for Bomar, with Calum Donohue and Chris Hay on target for the Barrington.


RIVER Coquet enjoyed a huge win in Division Two as they beat Felton 18-1. Liam Ramsey led the way with an incredible 10 goals in the total.

Ashington RAOB scored nine without reply as they hosted Morpeth Riverside Lodge. Craig Robinson (two), Lenny Lanbury, Liam Burton, Jay Gray, Mark Race, Stuart Douglas, Paul Smith and Gary Bailes were the men on target.

Village Inn, Longframlington saw Jackie Angus score all five of their total as they beat North End Trap 5-1. Mark Oman scored for the Trap.

East Chevington won 2-0 at home to Newbiggin Bankhouse, with goals from Peter Godfrey (two), while Morpeth Chantry won by the same scoreline at home to Blackthorn Rovers, courtesy of goals from Nick Jewitt and Adam McTaggert.

Amble Dock Hotel and Alnmouth Argyle drew 1-1, Ali Douglas on target for the Dock and Danny Donohue scoring for Argyle.
