Mixed fortunes for local sides

It was a day of mixed fortunes for local sides in the Northern Alliance cup competitions at the weekend.

Alnwick Town made it two out of two in the Challenge Cup with a 1-0 home win over Seaton Delaval.

Rothbury won 3-2 at home against Felling Magpies in the Combination Cup whilst in the Amateur Cup, Spittal Rovers went down to a 5-2 away defeat at Newcastle East End.

In the Cowey Cup, North Sunderland lost 5-1 at home to Newbiggin Central, making it two defeats out of two in the competition.
