Bamburgh Castle 4 North Sunderland 1
North Northumberland Football League, Division One
This derby saw a cagey opening period, with both sides looking not to concede first.
Danny Johnson had a shot comfortably saved by Dawson, as was Seb Tanney’s shot after a surging run on 15 minutes.
However, minutes later, Johny Johnson found Danny Johnson, whose diagonal run and reverse left-foot shot nestled in corner to open the scoring (1-0).
Bamburgh’s lead lasted only three minutes as Jack Convery’s speculative low shot from the right caught out Parkin in the home goal and crept inside the near post (1-1).
Scott for North Sunderland looked likely to score but for a last-ditch Tanney tackle before the half ended even.
From the restart, David Mitchell had a shot blocked. It fell kindly to him and his second attempt from the edge of the box found the net to give Bamburgh the lead once more (2-1).
Bamburgh’s Stevie Walker twice went close down the right, before Danny Johnson dispossessed Gardner and fed Johnny Johnson, who made it 3-1 on 70 minutes.
North Sunderland’s only reply was a Gardner free-kick that Parkin tipped over as the home team got on top.
Then Dawson was lucky not to walk after hauling down Johnson outside the area. But Danny Johnson had the final word with a fine individual goal, flicking the ball over the defence before firing past Dawson on 80 minutes for 4-1.
