Alnwick’s Lucy Bronze and her England team-mates are gearing up for their World Cup quarter-final with hosts Canada.

The Lionesses face the North American side in Vancouver at 12.30am BST tomorrow.

Bronze, 23, was the heroine in the last round, scoring a spectacular winner in the nation’s 2-1 victory over Norway on Monday.

Canada are ranked eighth in the world, two places below England, and are attempting to reach their second World Cup semi-final, while England have never made it past the last eight. More than 54,000 fans are expected to pack into BC Place for the game.

The winners will pay either Australia or Japan in the semi-final next week. USA and Germany will be contesting the other last-four clash.
