Lowick United Ladies 9 Cramlington Women 0
North East Regional Women’s Football League, County Cup
Lowick progressed to the quarter-finals of the County Cup with an emphatic win.
As the scoreline shows, it ended up a very one-sided match, but in the first 10 minutes, Cramlington did create a few scoring opportunities.
Lowick scored their first goal after 15 minutes when Michelle Stewart ran through the defence and rounded the keeper to make it 1-0. The second goal came shortly afterwards when Stewart was upended in the box and Jodie Robinson confidently converted the spot-kick (2-0).
Next, it was time for Jenny Patterson to score with a fine header from a Kirstie Tang corner (3-0).
Just before half-time, Tang scored Lowick’s fourth goal to make the score at the break 4-0.
During the second half, Lowick continued to dominate and it was pretty much one-way traffic.
Both Stewart and Patterson scored two more goals each to secure their hat-tricks, but the best goal was saved for last when Georgia Thompson scored with a splendid left-foot strike from fully 25 yards (9-0).
Although this was a comfortable victory, it was based on the hard work of the Lowick team and their ability to pass the ball confidently and totally outplay their opposition.
