Alnwick Town U21s...2 North Sunderland...1
Laidler/Lancaster Cup Final
DARRYL McNeill was the cup hero for Alnwick Town U21s, as his last-gasp strike saw his side lift the Laidler/Lancaster Cup on Saturday.
The black ’n’ whites came from behind to beat North Sunderland 2-1 in the final.
The contest was played in front of a good crowd at Alnwick’s St James’ Park ground, but it was North Sunderland who took the lead when Ryan Thompson scored a first-half penalty.
However, just before the interval, Alnwick equalised, thanks to a volley from Peter Murray.
And that’s the way it stayed until about five minutes from time, when McNeill stepped up to fire Alnwick to victory.
