Newcastle East End...2

AMBLE went into this game against Newcastle East End and if the last couple of games between these two were anything to go by then it was probably going to be quite a physical game.

The hosts got off to a great start though. Inside the first minute, they took the lead as Callum Fenwick did well to keep the ball in play and then he played a great pass to Jordan King, who turned his defender well and slotted it home (1-0).

Next Ronan Straughan fired a shot over the bar before the ball got played into the box in Amble’s next attack. James Oliver let it run past him before he smashed the bouncing ball past the keeper to make it 2-0.

Jordan King was next to test the keeper but his shot was saved. Ali Batey had a chance to get a third after he jinked passed the defenders but his left-footed shot was straight at the keeper.

Then Jason Imeson tested the keeper after a poor goal-kick but his effort sailed just over the bar.

Next, Batey and Straughan linked up well and it was the later who shot over the bar.

An Oliver corner was cleared before the next from Max Anderson lead to Fenwick having a shot which the keeper saved.

Amble went into the interval two up but knowing they could have had a third.

East End went straight on the attack as soon as the whistle went. First Nathan Potts had to make a last-ditch tackle to prevent a goalg. Then the away side won a corner which was headed in at the near post (2-1). However, Amble maybe should have cleared it.

A Straughan tackle stopped Amble from conceding again before Jake Aldworth pulled off a good save down low.

With just five minutes remaining the away side pulled another goal back which meant Amble’s title challenge took another dent (2-2).
