YOUNG sportsman Josh Rutherford has become one of the youngest FA Level 2 Qualified Coaches in the county.
Josh, a student at Newcastle College, completed the course separately from his full-time studies.
The Amble lad, a former student at the town’s Coquet High School – now James Calvert Spence College, Acklington Road – has worked tirelessly towards gaining his Level 1 and 2 Coaching Certificates in football in a space of 18 months, after he completed his Level 1 in October 2009.
As well as coaching, Josh plays football for Shilbottle Colliery Welfare in the North Northumberland League and Red Row Brick Club in the Morpeth Sunday League.
He also plays football at college in the North East College’s League, where he was awarded with the Manager’s Player of the Year award in his first year at the college.
The 18-year-old said: “I am delighted to have got my Level 2. This means a lot to me, because my ambition is to become a football coach in years to come.”
Josh has passed on his thanks to everyone who has helped and advised and encouraged him to reach his goals.
He added: “They’ve been great to me. They’ve given me sound advice which has improved my game leaps and bounds.”
