Alnwick Town U10...2 Morpeth U10...2

Pin Point Recruitment U10 League, Serie A

ALNWICK spurned a chance to keep up their league title chances with a scrappy draw against Morpeth on a blustery morning.

Morpeth started the brighter and could have easily taken the lead but some good early possession and some stout defending kept them at bay.

Alnwick took the lead when a looping cross from Tom Forster was bravely met by the head of Joe Aynsley and the ball looped over the Morpeth goalkeeper (1-0).

The lead did not last long when a tremendous strike on 15 minutes from Ethan Bell levelled it at 1-1.

Alnwick should have taken the lead after centre-half Harry Felton missed two good, headed chances from successive corners.

Early in the second half, Thomas Forster had a well-struck free-kick blocked but minutes later he curled in Alnwick’s second after good work on the left (2-1).

Morpeth hit back immediately when a well-struck shot was pushed away by the Alnwick keeper, George Shewing, only to be driven in hard by Mark Booth to level up the scores again at 2-2.

James Crisp worked hard on the left with good support from Owen Johnson.

The home side tried to change things around by bringing on substitute Matteo Kemp but despite some good hold-up play, there was no sting in the Alnwick tail.

Man-of-the-match Harry Felton should have sealed victory in the last minute when his volley was saved on the line by the Morpeth keeper.
