Hawks brought down by Cobras

North Shields Hawks...2 Alnwick Cobras...3

THE Cobras travelled to North Shields on Sunday knowing they were in for a tough game.

Both teams started well but it was Hawks who took the lead with a good move (1-0).

Cobras hit back with Kristan Atkinson hitting a long-range shot into the net (1-1).

Both teams were battling well and Hawks came close on a couple of occasions, grazing the woodwork.

Cobras responded when Marco MacKenley put Archie Smith through. He fended off two challenges to slip the ball under the keeper to make it 2-1.

Back came the Hawks with a long-range shot which hit the post and came back out to the Hawks centre-forward who slid the ball into the net (2-2).

Both teams pressed for the winner and it was Cobras’ MacKenley, who went on a great run to slip the ball past the keeper and win the game (2-3).

Managers K Smith and D Middleton were happy with the attitude and commitment of the team, against a tough North Shields outfit.
