Morpeth Sunday League round-up
There were goals galore on Sunday in the four matches that took place.
Amble Tavern hosted Morpeth Shambles and lost by the odd goal in seven, while Bedlington Barrington also went down at home, losing 2-1 to Stobswood.
There was more misery for Amble when the Blue Bell side scored two but conceded six against Wharton Arms.
But that wasn’t even the highest-scoring game of the day as Bedlington FC scored nine at home against Morpeth Wansbeck, who responded with three goals of their own.
The Morpeth Sunday League is looking for teams to compete in the league’s 2015-2016 season.
Any team based within a 20-mile radius of Morpeth town centre which are interested should contact Alan Parker, general league secretary, by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 01670 819459 (if no answer, leave a message) or 07767 147481 for further information.
Entrance fees for this season have been reduced to £25 plus a bond of £50 which is refundable provided that the club completes one season.
Alan will be happy to provide further details relating to finances, pitches, kit and other expenses; just contact him to discuss the matter.
In recent seasons, there have been fears over the future of the league as a number of teams have dropped out.
This term is the first time that there is just one division – featuring 10 teams – as there weren’t enough sides to make up the two divisions even after new clubs joined over last summer.
