Flowing football deserts Rangers

Longhoughton Rangers...3 Ashington...5

RANGERS’ good run ended on a chilly Sunday morning at Westfield Park.

Rangers took the lead on 10 minutes with a well-taken goal by Coxford (1-0).

Ashington soon replied to draw level (1-1).

Further goals for the home side came from Coxford and Anderson and Rangers looked like they were going to make it five wins out of five (3-1).

The visitors, however, had other ideas, twice taking advantage of the home defence not clearing their lines quickly enough to make it 3-3 at the interval.

The second half saw Ashington the brighter team and they kept Rangers pegged back.

The home side’s passing, flowing football of late had deserted them and they were reduced to only a couple of chances in the second-half.

Ashington scored two more goals on the break and Rangers never looked like they could recover (3-5).
