Five-star show from the Town juniors

Alnwick kept up their good league form with a convincing win against Heaton Hawks on Sunday.

The game started on time despite a frosty surface, which made for slick passing, suiting Alnwick’s style of play and they took the lead on five minutes when a cross from Owen Johnson crept under the Heaton goalkeeper (0-1).

Alnwick doubled their lead on 12 minutes when Max Paige fired over the keeper in style (0-2).

Alnwick maintained the pressure and James Chrisp rose above the Heaton defence to head home the third. Heaton had chances to score but Frewing kept them at bay. The half ended 0-3 to Alnwick.

The second half began as the first had ended with Alnwick well on top and Paige scored Alnwick’s fourth to put the game out of reach of Heaton (0-4).

However, Heaton managed a consolation goal with a well-worked move and finish from the right (1-4).

Efforts from Felton, Wass and Aynsley should have seen Alnwick well ahead but all failed to hit the net, but Alex Senior topped off the five-star performance when he chipped the advancing keeper (1-5).
