Fitting finale for hard-working Amble

Amble Utd...2 Forest Hall...0

Northern Alliance Division One

AMBLE welcomed Forest Hall to the Running Track pitch for their final match of the season.

They started the brightest with a very strong wind behind them and created chance after chance but could not put them away.

Amble found the back four very hard to break down and the score at half-time was 0-0.

After the interval, the home side got the match under way and picked up exactly where they left off.

They could have scored on several occasions but for some excellent goal-keeping by the Forest Hall keeper Matt Plows.

Amble finally took the lead in the 54th minute when Sean Taylor was brought down for a free-kick, which Greg Dance fired in for Lee Harker to slot home.

Forest Hall nearly got an equaliser in the 70th minute when Michael Reay had a shot which hit the post and came back into play for Amble to clear their lines.

In the 80th minute, Josh Rutherford pulled off a very good save to keep Amble in front.

Then in the 90th minute, Amble grabbed a second after some very good play up the right by Sean Taylor. He crossed for Josh Hay to head home and make the final score 2-0 to cap their season in fine style and confirmed their third place in the league.
