Playing their first league game for four months, and with four regular starters not available, Shilbottle got back to winning ways with this comfortable victory at Hexham Leisure Centre.

On a difficult playing surface both sides took time to settle. The Colliers created the first real chance when a Matty Graham lob failed to clear the home keeper. Shilbottle’s stand-in keeper Rikki Hume then pulled off a fine save to keep the scores level.

The Colliers finally opened the scoring after 35 minutes when a left wing corner from Josh Hay was forced home at the back post by Ross Straughan.

Within a couple of minutes the Colliers increased their lead when a strong drive from Joe Henderson was parried by the Hexham keeper and Matty Graham followed up to shoot home.

Shilbottle led 2-0 at the interval and should have increased their lead shortly after the restart when Joe Henderson vollied over the bar. The rest of the half was played out without much incident although another couple fine saves by Rikki Hume in the Shilbottle goal maintained his clean sheet and ensured the Colliers took all the points.
