Washington 3 Alnwick Town 2

An extra-time penalty ended Alnwick Town’s hopes of getting a point out of today’s visit to Washington.

It was the second spot-kick of the game for the home team, riding high in the Ebac Northern League Division Two.

After some early chances by Town’s Adam Shanks, Washington took the lead 20 minutes in.

Not long before half-time, the black and whites were on the score sheet when Stephen Hogg blasted in an equaliser.

Hogg got a second in the second-half when his shot went through the keeper to put Alnwick in the lead, 1-2.

But Town gave away a penalty and Washington slotted home to make it 2-2.

A second penalty in extra time saw Washington take the honours.

Alnwick Town are at home to Thornaby on Saturday.
