Deflection starts the ball rolling

AMBLE travelled the short distance to Ashington this weekend and started the game well with Joseph Flanighan hitting a left-foot shot on target, with the keeper getting down to collect the ball.

With both teams even in the first quarter, Ashington took the lead with the last kick of the quarter with a deflection from a corner.

Into the second quarter with space in front of him, Zack Davison made a surging run beating three players, then getting stopped by the last defender with a good tackle. Ashington broke down the pitch and took a 2-0 lead. Within the last minute of the second quarter, Ashington took a 3-0 lead.

Robert Straughan now in goal for Amble pulled off another good save, however, Ashignton soon increased their lead to 4-0. Straughan saved again soon after then played a quick ball upfield to Brandon McCann who finished well (4-1).

Three successive saves from Robert Starughan stopped Ashington increasing the lead But Ashington scored their fifth and sixth goal to increase their lead, before Niall Black scored for Amble in the last quarter to make it 6-2.
