Cobras in stalemate

Wallsend Madrid U9...0 Alnwick Town Cobras U9...0

COBRAS travelled to Wallsend for a tough away match on Sunday.

Both teams started well, but chances were hard to come by as they cancelled out each other.

Marco Makenley made a couple of good runs but Wallsend were defending well as Cobras started to get on top.

The home side broke clear but were denied a goal by the crossbar.

Cobras attacked again through Makenley but his cross ran straight across the six-yard box with no one able to get a touch on the ball.

Wallsend broke again, through the midfield and a 20-yard shot seemed goal-bound only for Robbie Parker to tip the ball over the crossbar for a superb save.

With two minutes remaining, Archie Smith broke clear and fired a shot but the Wallsend keeper pulled off a great save, tipping the ball over the crossbar.

Cobras battled well and were more than a match for Wallsend at times, but a draw was a fair result for both teams.
