Cobras are out-classed

Alnwick Town Cobras...3

Wallsend Boys Club...6

COBRAS entertained Wallsend Boys Club on Sunday in what was always going to be a difficult game.

Cobras started badly and went 1-0 down after some bad defending.

Another attack from Wallsend made it 2-0, as Cobras looked half-asleep and were not competing.

Wallsend got their third from a free-kick. They grabbed their fourth with the help of some bad defending, which seemed to spur Cobras into action.

Marco McKenley received the ball on the halfway line, beat two defenders and slipped the ball into the net. He scored his second with a great run, taking on the defender, then putting the ball into the net.

Cobras were starting to get into the game when again they shot themselves in the foot. Wallsend took a corner from which they scored their fifth with the help of some bad defending to say the least.

Then another Wallsend attack made it six.

Cobras scored their third when McKenley burst through and hit a great shot into the top corner of the net to seal his hat-trick.

Mangers K Smith and D Middleton were very disappointed with the way the team defended and the effort they put in.

“We felt Wallsend were there for the taking, but if the players don’t compete you don’t win football matches,” they said.
