Bunch of fives for Rangers

Longhoughton Rangers...5

Morpeth SC...0

RANGERS’ good run continued as they won their third consecutive league match by putting five past Morpeth on Sunday.

The first half-hour saw chances limited for both teams, with Rangers coming closest after hitting the bar from Anderson’s header.

The home side’s breakthrough came five minutes before half-time when a shot from Coxford managed to beat the visiting keeper (1-0).

Rangers started the second half with a spring in their step and doubled their lead soon after the restart when McKewan was the quickest to a rebound off the post to score his first league goal of the season (2-0).

This seemed to knock the stuffing out of the visitors as Rangers looked like scoring on every foray into the visitors’ half.

Turnbull made it three with a shot from just inside the penalty area (3-0).

Rangers were then awarded a penalty which Coxford confidently blasted into the net (4-0).

Coxford then completed his hat-trick being the quickest to react to a loose ball (5-0).

Another great team performance with every player contributing to the win. Special mention must go to the Rangers keeper and the hard-working and disciplined defence for a very pleasing clean sheet.
