Shilbottle gained revenge for their only defeat of the season to date, an odd-goal setback on the opening day, with this hard earned victory at the Wallsend Rising Sun Ground.

The home side opened strongly and almost took the lead after only five minutes when a poor back pass created an opportunity but Michael Saunders did well to clear the effort off the line.

However, it was the Colliers who opened the scoring after 12 minutes when a long ball from Ross Stewart found Liam Brooks who lobbed the home keeper from the edge of the box for a well taken goal.

Shilbottle continued to apply most of the pressure but were unable to turn this advantage into goals and the interval arrived with them holding only a single goal lead.

The second half began with a bang as almost from the restart the Colliers doubled their advantage when Joe Henderson slammed home a cracking drive from the edge of the box. The Colliers seemed in control until Chris Graham gave away a soft penalty on 70 minutes and Michael Hedley shot home from the spot to put his side back in the game.

Josh Hay had an effort cleared off the line and Liam Brooks headed just over beforehe game was effectively settled on 82 minutes when Hay struck a cracking drive into the corner of the net.
