Battling Juniors fall victim to an Italian job

Whitley Bay Milan U15...3 FC Amble Juniors U15...1

Pin Point Recruitment U15, League Two

AMBLE went into this game against a team who were lying second in the league.

In the first few minutes, the hosts won a corner which was half cleared. When the ball was hit back in, the home side’s striker headed in.

Amble tried to bounce back and when Max Anderson whipped in a corner, no one could get the vital touch to poke the ball home.

A James Oliver corner fell to Josh Briggs, who couldn’t apply a finish. Then Amble’s pressure paid off.

James Oliver collected the ball down the wing before putting in a great ball where Josh Briggs beat the keeper to the ball and lobbed him with a header.

Ali Batey held up the ball well before playing it down the wing to Josh Briggs, who put the ball in a dangerous area where Jason Imeson slid in. But he was inches away from getting the touch.

In Amble’s next attack, James Oliver took a shot at goal via a free-kick before Ali Batey was just beaten by the keeper at the rebound.

Next was the home side’s turn to attack and if it wasn’t for Ronan Straughan blocking a shot, the hosts may have taken their goal advantage. Andy Flanighan took a free-kick which he drove towards goal where the keeper did well to hold it.

James Oliver whipped in another corner where Andy Flanighan’s goal-bound header was blocked.

In the second half, Callum Fenwick took a shot on goal which would have given the keeper a problem if it had been a foot either side.

Nathan Potts played the ball to Callum Fenwick who squared to Ali Batey but he could only hit the side netting.

The home side won a free-kick which was headed off the line by James Oliver.

Amble then conceded a a sloppy goal that maybe should have been headed out. In the dying few minutes, Jake Aldworth made a great save before in the hosts’ next attack. Max Anderson cleared off the line.

Eventually Whitley Bay got their third which killed the game for Amble.
