FA CUP THIRD ROUND
Blyth Spartans 2 Birmingham 3
An emphatic second-half fight-back spared Birmingham city’s blushes and ended Blyth Spartans’ FA Cup dream at Croft Park this afternoon.
A third-round giant killing was on when hosts Blyth went 2-0 up in the first half thanks to a brace from Robert Dale.
But Birmingham came out firing after the break and three goals, in less than 20 second-half minutes, turned the tie on its head.
Blyth had two good chances at the death, but were unable to find an equaliser.
Amble’s Nathan Buddle was in the starting line-up for Blyth.
More to follow.
