Alnwick Town Reserves...3 Swalwell...0
(Saturday, November 12)
AFTER three weeks of cup action, Alnwick were looking to add to their tally in the league with a good result against Swalwell.
Alnwick started the more dominant with a series of corners, one of which nearly gave them the lead when Nat Price had a shot which was cleared to Colin Bickerton who headed over.
Alnwick had another chance when Nat Price flicked on to Brad McLellan but his first touch let him down to allow Scott in the visitors’ goal to come out and collect.
Swalwell were forcing their way back into the game and they nearly scored when Chris Smith broke the offside trap and was clean through, but Gordon Saunders in the Alnwick goal stood tall and forced him wide and he shot over.
Price and McLellen were combining well upfront to create chances but were snatching at their shots.
There were chances at either end when Chris Moffat fired just over from a free-kick then Swalwell had a great chance when Adam McVickers headed just wide from a cross from the left.
Alnwick got off to the best of starts in the second half when they scored two goals in as many minutes first when good work on the left by Kieran Hogg and Nat Price put Price in to cross for McLellan to score from six yards (1-0).
The second came when Nat Price collected the ball on the left side of the box.
He cut back in to fire a thunderous shot into the roof of the net (2-0).
Swalwell had a chance to pull one back when Smith was played in but David Hubbard cleared.
Alnwick had a number of chances before they notched up number three when Nat Price crossed from the right for Chris Moffat to score (3-0).
This was a great all-round performance from the whole of the Alnwick squad which got them back to winning ways in the league.
