Kieran Hogg’s double and Paul Muers’ effort were enough to see off the league’s basement side and leapfrog the ‘Wick above North Shields in the table.

Alnwick were dealt an early blow inside five minutes when Richard Stanwix pulled up with a hamstring issue and he was replaced by Joe Threlfall.

The home side dominated possession in the early phases of play, however, without creating too many opportunities.

Delaval almost took a shock lead, but Dundas recovered well at the back to clear the danger.

Town then took the lead when Hogg reacted quickest to beat the ‘keeper to the ball and fire in from close range.

In the second half debutant Billy Handyside linked up well with Ross Moore who fired across goal for Muers to lace home and double their side’s advantage. It was nearly three only a couple of minutes later, the goalkeeper making a fine save before Joe Threlfall saw his effort rebound off the underside of the cross bar.
