Pin Point Recruitment Combination Cup, Round Two

AMBLE travelled away for the fifth week running to play Heddon in the Combination Cup.

They started the brightest and very nearly took the lead in the 15th minute when Greg Dance fired in a good shot from 20 yards which just went over the crossbar.

In the 20th minute, Heddon went close when Mark Hope blasted a shot from close range only for Andrew Patterson to pull off a very good save.

Amble started to play some good football and were creating some great chances. They could have been three up but for some decent saves by the home keeper Michael Birrell.

In the 25th minute, an excellent shot by Sean Taylor from 25 yards was well saved by the home keeper, who tipped the shot over the crossbar. Just a minute later, another good shot by Dance was once again tipped over the crossbar by Birrell.

Amble did take the lead in the 28th minute when Lee Harker headed home from close range (0-1).

They continued to play some inventive football but could not find a second goal and the score remained 0-1 at half-time.

After the interval, Amble went two up in the 47th minute when, after a good move up the left and cross by Sean Taylor, Dance fired home at the far-post (0-2).

The home side started to grow into the game and were putting the Amble back four under all sorts of pressure, but they could not find a goal. The visitors seized the initiative again, but they also could not find the net.

The full-time whistle signalled another good win on the road for Amble and took them into the semi-finals of the cup.
