Alnwick Town 1 Northallerton Town 2
Northern League, Division Two
Alnwick Town threw away a half-time lead to finish empty-handed at the end of this afternoon’s league encounter.
It was always going to be a tough ask against a side five places and a dozen points above them in the table at the start of play, but, with home advantage, they will have hoped for victory or at least a point.
Danny Lowes hit a volley to give Alnwick the lead just before half-time and raise fans’ expectations.
But, midway through the second half, Alnwick conceded a penalty and the visitors knocked it home to level the scores.
Then, 10 minutes before the end of the match, Northallerton scored again to break Alnwick’s hearts and secure all three points.
