Alnwick Town started the season by taking a point as they drew away at Chester-le-Street.

It was 2-2 at full-time at the Chester Moor Ground this afternoon.

Adam Shanks scored with a penalty and Tony Brown also knocked one in for Town.

And it looked like they were all set to win until a late equaliser came from Chester-le-Street who were down to 10 men.

But the reserves weren’t so lucky.

Taking on Forest Hall at home they were beaten by five goals to nothing. The home side conceded four goals before half-time.

And despite an urge to pull it back after the break they let in another when the keeper was off injured.

Town’s first home match at St James’ Park is on Tuesday night against Willington with kick-off at 7.45pm.
