Alnwick lads stop the rot with draw

Alnwick played an entertaining draw at home to RHF which came after a couple of disappointing away defeats.

They started the brighter of the two teams and were on the attack straight away with some good forward play down the right involving Murton, Robson and Muter.

The away side were having to defend deep, struggling to cope with the early pressure.

The first goal came when Connor sent over a curling cross for Clark to turn sweetly and fire into the roof of the net (1-0).

The lads were playing with a lot of confidence, with Robinson and Symons running the show in centre-midfield, the work-rate and passing which had been missing lately was showing up well.

The back four of Hogg, Crombie, Milham and Connor were defending very well, denying the high-scoring RHF side any attempts on goal. Moffat in goal was looking assured until half-time (1-0).

The second half began with RHF trying to get back into the game. Unfortunately for Alnwick, they got the equaliser with a good run and shot into the bottom corner (1-1).

Alnwick kept their composure though and played their way back into the match, coming close with a couple of good efforts from Murton and Robinson. They regained the lead when new signing Charlie Caden played it into the box for Muter to slot it into the corner (2-1).

The game was swaying end-to-end and getting stretched, with both teams going for it.

However, RHF were using the wind to their advantage and equalised with a headed goal from a corner (2-2).

This gave the away team a boost, but Alnwick defended well Moffat pulling off a couple of great saves. A much-improved performance from the lads going in to the final few games of the season.
