FC Amble Juniors got back to league duty with a hard-earned victory despite the team being plagued with injuries at the weekend.

In the first 10 minutes, both teams were evenly matched.

East End’s first chance was a one-on-one with Jake Aldworth, who saved well, just getting his hand to the ball.

Shayne Wright, playing on the left-wing, won the ball on the edge of the box, taking it forward then shooting across goal with his left foot.

Ali Batey was working hard on the right. He whipped in a great cross for Wright who controlled well, before the defender cleared the ball.

Minutes later Jake Aldworth pulled off another good save denying the home team.

Thirty minutes had been played, Amble had a corner that was whipped in for Josh Briggs to head the ball home with his first touch of the game, coming on to replace Wright.

East End had a good chance straight after shooting across the face of the Amble goal.

With 10 minutes left of the first half, Amble increased their lead with Jordan King scoring from close range.

East End pushed more players forward in the second half for their first chance on goal with Jake Aldworth getting down well to save.

Amble had another chance to increase their lead with Callum Fenwick putting in a good corner for Jordan King to get his head to the ball only to put it wide. The same two players had another chance with the same outcome, going out for a goal-kick.

Amble battled well in midfield with Imeson, Potts and Batey working hard, while the back four of Little, Flanighan, Byrne and Oliver all played their part in keeping a clean-sheet with East End playing three strikers upfront.
