Alnwick Town Football Club are to cash in to the tune of £32,000 to carry out improvements to their St James’ Park stadium.
The money is being made available following a successful application to the Football Foundation under The Football Stadia Improvement Grant. The cash will be used to improve all electrical installation at the ground.
Along with that, all electricals in the floodlights from the bases up to and including the heads and lamps will improve the lux value by 50% and reduce running costs by 50%.
The grant is for £32,236 and the Club will add £13,815 to that as their share, raised through additional grants and donations as well as Club backing.
Work is to be completed by November 2016.
A statement from the club said: “This will provide some of the best floodlights in Northumberland and serve the Club for years to come. The electrical upgrade will allow the modernisation of Alnwick Town FC’s facilities.”
Only last week it was revealed the club is to enjoy a tie-up with Italian giants AC Milan by becoming one of their official junior camp partners.
The long-term venture, which could span two decades, will bring with it many perks, including the chance for some youngsters to pull on the Rossoneri’s iconic kit and play in the huge San Siro stadium against juniors representing fierce rivals Inter.
Legendary AC Milan defender Franco Baresi is also to attend a press conference at Alnwick Town next year.
