Ella Brown put in an excellent run at the Tarpley 20 at Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk on Sunday.

Ella was second female in the 10-mile race at Tarpley last year, and she was second again this time round.

Ella comfortably won the female 40 category as well and finished in 2.19.02.

Another female Harrier was in action on the same day in the Harewood Hall Half-Marathon, near Leeds. Diana Weightman finished the race in 1.52.57 to finish 275th.

Finally that day, Gay Eastoe was the winner of the female 60 category at the Netherhall 10 at Maryport in Cumbria.

Gay finished in 73rd place in 1.31.05, and husband Richard was one place and one second behind.

The day before, Dominic Harris improved on his previous 5k best at the Darlington South Park Parkrun. Dom, surely a favourite for the most improved male this year, finished 11th in an excellent 18.27.

At the Druridge Bay Parkrun, a huge number of Harriers took part and there was a whole host of personal bests and age-category wins.

First Harrier to finish was Terry Fountain, winning the male 45 category, in ninth place. Dean Stackhouse was one place further back in a personal best time, and Graham Crow was the third Harrier home.

Dave Henderson and David Barnes ran course personal bests, and Peter Embleton won the male 65 category and Ian Atherton the male 60 age group.

For the women, Denise Drummond was first to complete and won the age 50 category in the process.

Alex Reed was next, followed by Mel Steer. Ruth Doctor was first in the female 40 category, and Maddy Hall ran a course personal best.
