Eight-wicket victory for youngsters

Alnmouth and Lesbury U15 v Benwell Hill

Alnmouth and Lesbury U15s hosted Benwell Hill U15s in the ECB Cup on Monday.

The visitors were asked to bat first and lost their county opening batsmen Appleby second ball of the innings to Brunton, who was well supported by fellow opening bowler Cameron Batey.

From that point, Benwell Hill continued to lose regular wickets, no batsman reaching double figures and home spinners Evan Moir and Lucas Robinson being particularly impressive. When their innings closed, the visitors had reached 52 runs.

In reply, home opening batsmen Brunton and Andy Marshall made a solid start, reaching 23 before Shinwari bowled Brunton for 10.

Marshall and Moir then took the total to 47 before Williamson bowled Marshall, also for 10. This left Moir and Joe Tudor to see the home side to victory by eight wickets.
