Bamburgh Castle (155-6) v Eglingham (156-2)
Bamburgh entertained local rivals Eglingham on Sunday and lost by eight wickets on a cold damp day.
In a match played in a brilliant spirit, Eglingham, who lent Bamburgh two players, asked the Castle side to bat first and, despite losing a wicket in the second over, Richard Alsept and Lawrence Reeves set about repairing the damage.
Both played with caution at first and then began to accelerate and added 93 runs in 17 overs before Alsept was out, bowled by Davy Scott for 50 with one six and six fours to his name.
Shortly after this, Reeves also was bowled by Scott for 54, which included eight fours.
Despite resistance from loanee Ally Graham, who finished with 24 not out, Bamburgh finished their innings on 155 for 6 in the allotted 30 overs. Reeves top-scored for the Seasiders for the third week running.
Wicket-takers for Eglingham were Davy Scott (2-33), B Dugdale (2-20) and Andrew Scott (1-11).
Eglingham opened their reply with Daniel Graham and Gareth Bateman, fresh from their double-hundred opening stand against the Genetics last week, carrying on from where they left off and after 10 overs were 59-0, before they started to accelerate and, in the next nine overs, added a further 88 runs.
The Bamburgh bowlers stuck to their tasks and were finally rewarded from an unlikely source with regular wicket-keeper Steve Robinson bowling and with his first ball had Graham caught by a good catch by Johnny Roxburgh for 63 off 56 balls including seven fours.
Despite taking another wicket in the next over, Eglingham won the match in the 22nd over, with Bateman unbeaten on 81 off 63 balls including one six and nine fours.
Robinson finished on 1-6 and Roxburgh 1-34.
