Alnwick II 0 JPC I 3
Alnwick II were eagerly out onto the pitch for the encounter with JPC Firsts.
The visitors had first push-back, but Alnwick were straight out onto the ball fighting for possession.
E Young stole the ball, passing out to the right to C Reid, who dribbled down the right-wing, flicking it to E Straker who then crossed for A Lincoln to fire towards the top right of the net, but the ball was skilfully saved.
The possession was easily 50-50, it was anyone’s game.
JPC’s first break consisted of practised stick skills into the D and a final power shot found the right corner of the goal (0-1).
Alnwick kept their heads held high. Passes out wide to J McMeekin gave her a chance to dribble fiercely down the left-wing into the D. She went for a shot and the ball rebounded, allowing J Broom a shot on goal which was again saved by the keeper.
Minutes before the half-time whistle, a penalty corner was given in favour of the opposition. The defence ran out strongly, but, unfortunately, the ball flew past them into the top corner after a forceful hit from their striker (0-2).
The second half began with elaborate passes between Alnwick using the defence, creating space and working the opposition.
Further attempts on goal were made but nothing came of them.
It’s fair to say JPC were anxious with the effort being put in by Alnwick.
As the final whistle was blown a penalty corner was again given in favour of the opposition. Alnwick raced back and made every attempt to save the ball. But, the battle was lost and JPC’s final goal was scored and the whistle was blown (0-3).
