It was a busy weekend for Alnwick Dolphins swimming club with their Club Championships being held.

All ages congregated to break personal best times, challenge each other and have fun compeating for the clubs silverware.

In all, four competitions were held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday covering 50m to 1,500m and all stroke disciplines.

Club champions were:

Edward Brown (10&U); Ellie Price (10&U); Ben Fish(11-13); Kim Robson(11-13); Ben Saxon (14+); Lauren Vickers (14+).

Runners-up were: Ruriadh Batley (10&U); Megan Park (10&U); Gregor Batley (11-13); Niamh Hope (11-13); Oscar Wilson (14+); Kirsty Duffin (14+); Eve Buddle (14+).

This year a Special Achievement award was implemented for the first time for an outstanding performance over the weekend. This was won jointly by Cooper Wilde for swimming the 200m butterfly at age 9, and Finlay Wilde for swimming the 200m butterfly & 400m individual medley, at age 11 - ones to watch in the future.

Oscar Wilson and Ben Saxon must be given a special mention for swimming the 1500m (60 lengths), 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly and 400m individual medley over the weekend which meant they swam the furthest and hardest of all the competitors in the championships..

Closest race was Ben Fish and Gregor Batley in the 400m front crawl - separated by only 7/100ths of a second - which club official reckon is less than 8cm.

A big thank you goes to everyone involved in running this event and to everyone for taking part and trying so hard all weekend.
