Still no joy for Alnmouth cricketers

Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts are still searching for their first win over the season after suffering a third successive defeat in the Northumberland & Tyneside Division 1 at the weekend.

They were at home to Tynedale 1sts and in a high scoring match went down to a narrow four run defeat.

Tynedale batted first and with opener Thomas Can’t hitting 96, supported by Sam Mannion (46) and James Rainford (43) they put on a big target of 248-5.

Paul Straker top scored with 64 and Thomas Robinson hit 43, but they came up just short at 244-9 in their 45 overs.

In Division 2, Alnwick 1sts suffered a 109-run home defeat at the hands of table-toppers Tillside 1sts.

The Etal side batted first and put on 168-7 with Ross Hindmarsh 82 not out. Alnwick were then all out for only 59, with Sean Wales and Greg Davidson taking three wickets apiece.

Warkworth 1sts suffered an 89-run away defeat against Ponteland 1sts.

Pont were 173-6 in their 45 overs with John Lumb on 63 not out. Warkworth were then 84 all out in reply.

In Division 3, Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds went down to a heavy nine wicket away defeat against Ashington Rugby 1sts. In their innings, Alnmouth could only manage 106 all out, which was an easy target for the hosts, who chased it down at 110-1 in 25 overs.

In Division 5 North, Warenford won their third successive game with a 64-run home victory over Rock. With Alan Swinton hitting 56, Waren posted 184-7 in their 40 overs. They then bowled Rock out for 120 with Kevin Thompson taking 4-22.

Alnwick 2nds won by 66 runs away to Tillside 2nds. Alnwick put on 193-6 in their innings with Laurence Reeves top scoring on 47. Tillside were 127-9 in reply.

Howick went down by 86 runs on their visit to Morpeth 2nds. The home side made 115 all out with Oliver Tulip and Paul Marley each taking three wickets. Howick were then all out for only 59 in reply with Elliott Clark taking 5-13.

In Division 6 North, Warkworth 2nds had a six wicket home win over Ulgham 2nds. Ulgham were 124-6 in their 40 overs with Warkworth 127-4 in reply (Keith Puddephat 42).

Wooler lost by four wickets on their visit to Berwick 2nds. Wooler batted first and were 112 all out with Berwick 115-6.
