Elder hits a century in opening day defeat for Alnmouth

In Division 1 Archie Elder hit 105 for Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts, who put on a decent score of 234-4, but they went down to a five wicket defeat as opponents Newcastle City 1sts replied with 235-5.

In Division 2, Alnwick 1sts hit 197-5 for a five wicket home win over Blue Flames 1sts after they had posted 120 all out. Jonathan Roxburgh claimed 4-8 in a good spell for Alnwick before opener James Crooks guided them to victory with a knock of 89.

Warkworth 1sts went down to a seven wicket loss at Lintz 1sts, Warkworth batted first and put on 209 all out with Rory Wilson top scoring on 58. Lintz replied with 211-3, Tom Forster on 102 not out.

In Division 3 Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds went down to a heavy 177 run defeat away to Berwick 1sts. The home side batted first and hit 239-6, with James Patterson on 91 before he retired hurt. Alnmouth were all out for only 64 in reply.

In Division 5 North, Howick (129 all out) lost by 59 runs away to Bedlington 2nds, who had set them a target of 188 all out.

Alnwick 2nds (133-7) lost by 74 runs on their visit to Monkseaton 1sts, who had opened with a score of 207-4.

Warenford (111-2) started with a comfortable eight wicket home win over Cramlington 2nds who posted 109 all out.

Meanwhile, Rock suffered a heavy ten wicket home defeat at the hands of Ashington Rugby 2nds.In Division 6, Embleton beat Warkworth 2nds whilst Wooler were unable to raise a team for their first game away to Blyth 2nds and so conceded the fixture.
