Alnwick cricketers make it two wins out of two

It was week two in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League and Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts are still looking for their first win of the season after going down to a heavy 163 run defeat away to Leadgate 1sts.

The home side batted first and put on a big score of 204-8 with James Radcliffe on 63. Alnmouth were then reduced to only 35 all out in reply.In Division 2 Alnwick 1sts made it two wins out of two to top the table following their six wicket win away to Bedlington 1sts. Bedlington batted first and put on 182-8 with Alnwick chasing it down at 186-4 in the 39th over with opener James Crooks on 51.Warkworth 1sts won by seven wickets at home to Backworth 1sts. The visitors made 192-7 in their 45 overs, but Warkworth, with Stephen Dargue making 97, put on 193-3 in reply.In Division 3, Alnmouth 2nds (174-4) won by six wickets at home to Cramlington 1sts (171-4).In Division 5 North, Warenford made it two wins out of two with an 11 run victory away to Howick. Warenford were 197-8 with Howick 186-7 at the end of their 40 overs.Alnwick 2nds went down to a four wicket defeat at home to Bedlington 2nds. Alnwick were 178 all out with Bedlington making 182-6 in reply.Rock went down to a four wicket home defeat at the hands of Blagdon 2nds. Rick were 102 all out with Blagdon posting 103-6 in their innings.In Division 6 North, Berwick 2nds were awarded the points after visitors Embleton conceded as they could not raise a team.Wooler got their season off an running with a one wicket win at home against Bomarsund 2nds. The visitors batted first and were all out for 97 with the father and son pairing of Ivor and Oliver Patterson taking seven wickets between them. In a tense finish, the Glendale side sneaked home with only one ball to spare.Warkworth 2nds (159-3) with John Briggs Jun 70 no, suffered a five wicket defeat away to Stobswood 2nds (163-5).
