ALNMOUTH & Lesbury junior cricketers ended their season on a high with victory in the eight-a-side North Northumberland U13 Cup final at home against Berwick last month.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat but the Alnmouth bowlers took complete control as Berwick collapsed to just 29 all out.

Alnmoth wicket-takers were George Lindley (two), Nick Robertson, Evan Moir and Kallum Tudor.

The low total was never going to challenge the strong Alnmouth batting line up and they romped home, scoring 32 without losing a wicket in only four overs, with Edward Brunton hitting an unbeaten 23 and Evan Moir an unbeaten six.

The victory ended an excellent season for the U13s in which they also won the North Northumberland League and the Northumberland Junior League ‘A’ Division.

At the clubs end of season junior awards a number of players were recognised for their excellent performances. The players of the year were Harry Sutherland (U9s), Joe Tudor (U11s), Edward Brunton (U13s) and Jonny Ridley (U15s).

Achievement awards were also made to George Cockayne, Thorsten Robinson, Ewan Thorpe (U9s), Tom Harrop, Olly Tulip, Cameron Thorpe (U11s), Robert Burnett, Evan Moir (U13s) and Alistair Batey (U15s).
