Alnwick Sea Angling Club
The European Open Beach Championships were held over the weekend along the Yorkshire coast.
Several members of Alnwick Sea Angling Club travelled to the two-day event.
On the Saturday, there was a slight sea running and, as nearly 1,500 anglers from all around the UK and Europe fished the event, trying to get into the prime areas proved difficult as anglers were taking up the best spots in the early hours of the morning and several staying there all night.
So it was no surprise that the members got off to a slow start, only catching a few undersized codling. However, on the Sunday, they changed location and found a decent area on one of the beaches.
Mickey Buck, Andrew Stanton, Anthony Gibbison and Richard Murphy were entered into the team event and on the second day all managed to catch and weigh in.
Mickey Buck landed the best fish, a good-quality bass just under 5lb and finished an excellent fifth place.
As the team all managed to catch, they finished fourth in the team event, which was another great result.
