Alnwick Sea Angling Club
With a northerly swell, running conditions were good again for cod this week.
Most anglers managed to weigh in but quite a few places were unable to be fished for weed, so anglers had to move around a lot to find somewhere they could fish. There were one or two better fish this week which was a good sign.
Current league leader William Morton did well to win the match with three cod for 11lb 15½oz. He also had the heaviest fish, a nice cod of 6lb 14oz and extended his lead on his nearest rivals. Anthony Gibbison was second with three cod for 9lb 1½oz. John Stephenson was third with one cod for 5lb 11oz.
Other anglers weighing in were: Daniel Frater, one cod, 5lb 5½oz; George Hornsby, two cod, 4lb 7oz; Paul Johnson, two cod, 3lb 1½oz; Kevin Donnelly, two cod, 2lb 3oz; Steve Scott, one cod, 1lb 10½oz; Steve McKee, one cod, 1lb 10oz; Ian Hall, one cod, 1lb 7oz; Andrew Stanton, one cod, 1lb 4½oz.
Club member George Hornsby did well, fishing the Dave Jobson Memorial Open earlier in the day and catching a good quality cod of 7lb 10oz. He was second overall and also had the second heaviest fish, which earned him £100 and a £20 gift voucher.
