Tillside (169 all out) v Bamburgh Castle (113 all out)
Bamburgh’s recent good form was ended on Sunday when they slumped to a 59-run defeat against Tillside.
Winning the toss and electing to bowl Bamburgh’s bowlers were soon on the defensive and the Tillside batsmen got off to a steady start despite losing Lee Atkinson in the sixth over for six.
Fellow opener Jack Bagness was joined by the hard-hitting Jamie Pick and added 35 in a further six overs before Bagness was bowled by Lakey for 16.
Pick made an impressive 50 off only 38 balls before he holed out off the bowling of Josh Bailey with the total on 86 in the 17th over.
Tillside skipper Callum McGregor and Ross Hindmarsh continued to attack before they were out in consecutive balls with the total on 110 to open up the tail.
Despite a spirited 21 from Jason Whittle, the innings petered out to finish on 169 in the 32nd over. A special mention should be made of Andrea Thomas who took her first wicket in senior cricket.
Other wicket-takers were Josh Bailey, 4-32, Richard Alsept, 3-26, Tom Lakey, 1-39, and Neil McDonald, 1-17.
When Bamburgh batted they made a steady start and made 25 before Rory Gibson was out for 17 and this started a mini-collapse and, after 17 overs, had slumped to 49-4.
Despite some resistance from Richard Alsept (24) and Josh Bailey (13) Bamburgh were all out in the 33rd over for 113 – a deficit of 57 runs in a match sponsored by Adderstone Services.
