North Northumberland Junior Golf League
The league season came to its conclusion on Sunday with the junior field day held at Alnwick Castle Golf Club, hosted by the new junior champions of the league, who pipped last year’s champions Linden Hall to the winning line.
It was a close-fought battle this year as this was the first time the teams played home and away, which made it a tighter contest.
However, Alnwick have produced a really strong team over the last three years, with some very good golfers coming through the ranks under the guidance of their junior liason officer Duy Lam.
Not only did they win the league, they also did the treble, winning the opening Super Cup match against Linden Hall and also the Knock Out Cup final against an improving Percy Wood team, both played at Foxton this year.
They then topped off the season by winning the Team Trophy for the best three scores on the field day and individual prizes for best gross on the day by Jack Friar.
All in all, it was an excellent performance by a very good group of golfers.
