Harrier Bruce Crombie put in a fantastic performance with the best result of the weekend in the Windy Gyle Fell Race on Sunday.
Bruce finished the race, approximately nine miles in length and with 1,800 feet of ascent, in third place beating off some very good competitors to win a place on the podium.
Bruce clocked 1.04.04 and was not too far behind first and second, knocking nearly four minutes off his time from last year.
Mark Doctor and John Cockburn also completed the race.
Results: 3-Bruce Crombie 1.04.04; 49-Mark Doctor 1.27.45; 59-John Cockburn 1.39.00.
On the same day and much closer to home, four Harriers were in action in the Run Alnwick trail races, held in Hulne Park.
Phil Baston finished 69th of the 208 finishers in a very hilly half-marathon, clocking a very good 1.46.34.
Meanwhile, in the 10k event, Lisa won the battle of the Bastons (no relation) beating Charlotte.
Results 10k: 27-Lisa Baston 48.09; 33-Charlotte Baston 49.20; 59-Rachel Heeley 55.33.
The previous day, three Harriers were taking part in Parkruns, with the quickest time being recorded at the Northampton Parkrun by Mark Jefferies.
Results: Northampton: 15-Mark Jefferies 20.00. Newcastle: 119-Charlotte Baston 23.36; 200-Jayne Hately 26.29.
Beautiful, warm weather greeted the nine Harriers who travelled to Tyneside for the Elswick Harriers organised Newburn River Run on Wednesday, June 19.
First to finish for the club, in his first appearance in the male 55 category, was Jim Lillico. Charlie Gillon was next, followed by John Ross.

The following night, there was more success for Bruce Crombie at the Norham RC-organised Castle Bank Challenge.
Bruce was first veteran in this 6k event, in which runners are sent off at 15-second intervals. Bruce was fifth in 19.57.
Wooler Running Club
On Sunday, three members of Wooler Running Club took part in the Alnwick Trail Runner Half Marathon, located in the grounds of Alnwick Castle and Hulne Park, and encompassing a far from flat course.
Graham Simpson completed his first half marathon in a superb time of 1:30:30, finishing 16th overall. Glen McWilliams was next in for the club in 1:41:12, followed by Pauline Aitchison in 1:47:12, back from injury and running her first race since the London Marathon in April. Well done to all.
