An Alnwick girl recently represented the north of England at rugby at the Sainsbury’s School Games in Manchester.
Linzi Taylor, 17, was part of an elite, strong team taking part in the rugby sevens competition.
This year saw eight teams battle it out over three days of rugby.
Competition was fierce with two girls being stretchered off in the final rounds.
The north held their nerve despite this and came back strongly to take away the bronze medal.
It is the second year that Linzi has represented the north at the games.
The Sainsbury’s 2014 School Games saw more than 1,600 talented schoolchildren descended on Manchester to compete in 12 sports across four action-packed days last week.
The Sainsbury’s School Games is supported by National Lottery funding from Sport England and is delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, helping to launch the careers of many British athletes, including heptathlete Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Paralympic swimmer Ellie Simmonds.
It was held in venues across Manchester from Thursday to Sunday, September 4 to 7.
