ALNWICK bowlers bounced back from a heavy defeat the previous week to record a 12-2 win over Westerhope in the Clegg Cup B Division of the Northumberland Bowling Association.
In the process, they scored the highest shots total in the league so far this season, beating their Tyneside opponents by 95 shots to 52 with only one triple failing to win.
But it was a different story in the County A Division Nines League, in which Alnwick lost 6-2 to Ponteland.
In friendlies, they were also second against Northumberland Police, losing by 48 shots to 68 but against local rivals Wooler won by 68 shots to 54.
Alnwick were beaten in a round robin format in the first round of the Northumberland County Jubilee Cup played on Tyneside at the weekend.
They came second to the eventual winners Backworth.
The ladies in the Collins and Shipley league, after losing their first game to Benfield and only gaining two points, got back to winning form beating Morpeth 10-2 and then went one better beating Seaton Delavel by 12 points.
In a friendly match, they beat Amble.
